DIET

The Normandy pig is omnivorous. It eats tubers, small mammals, fruit, vegetables, etc.

Gestation: 3 months, 3 weeks and 3 days
7 piglets averaging 1.9 kg at birth.
 

GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION

Breeders who still own Normandy sows are almost all located in the south of the Manche department. There are several breeders in Calvados and in northern Mayenne.

The Normandy pig is an outdoor farm pig, reputed for the colour and quality of its pork products.
It is however quite delicate, difficult to transport and unsuited to industrial fattening.
