DIET

The Barbary ape feeds on acorns, bark, cedar needles, mushrooms, bulbs and small animals like insects and amphibians.

Having reached their sexual maturity at 4 to 5 years, Barbary apes breed in November.
After a gestation period of 6 months, the female gives birth to a single young.
