Branta sandvisensis

This goose has been the official bird of the state of Hawaii since 1957.
Its sedentary life distinguishes it from other geese. The climate is far from challenging. Its wings are weak as it barely flies and does not migrate.
As it rarely swims, its feet are adapted to living on the ground and its toes are only partially webbed. However, its feet and toes are longer than other species and enable it to climb on the island’s rocky terrain.
